Terms of Use & Medical Disclaimer
Last updated: September 24, 2026
The short version (please read this part)
- First Bites is a logging tool. It helps parents and caregivers keep track of the foods, allergens and feedings they choose to record. It is not medical, nutrition or allergy advice.
- It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Labels like “watching,” “established,” “reaction,” nutrient tags, meal plans and suggestions are simple rules applied to what you logged. They are not a clinical judgment about your child.
- Talk to your pediatrician (and your allergist, if you have one) before starting solids and before introducing allergens. This matters most if your baby has severe eczema, a known food allergy, or a strong family history of allergies.
- Supervise every meal. Serving and texture suggestions are general. You know your child, and you are responsible for what you feed them and how.
- The choking and CPR content is a quick reference, not training. Please take a hands-on infant CPR and first-aid class.
- General information can be incomplete or out of date. Guidelines change.
- You are responsible for what you log. Reports and exports are your own notes. They are not medical records.
- Your data can be lost, for example if your browser storage is cleared. Export a copy regularly.
Emergency? If your baby has trouble breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, repeated vomiting, turns pale, blue or floppy, or is choking and can’t cough, cry or breathe, call 911 (or your local emergency number) now. Don’t wait on this app.

1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Data Hound Tech LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”), the developer of First Bites, based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. They cover First Bites wherever you use it: the website at firstbites.traqqit.com, the installed web app, and the Android app on Google Play (together, “First Bites”).
By using First Bites, including by tapping “Agree & continue” in the app, you agree to these Terms and to the medical disclaimer in them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If you don’t agree, please don’t use First Bites.
2. Who can use First Bites
- You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
- First Bites is for parents, legal guardians, and caregivers (for example a grandparent or nanny) who have the parent’s or guardian’s permission to record information about the child.
- First Bites is used by adults on a child’s behalf. It is not designed for or directed to children.
- It is for personal, non-commercial use by families. It is not built to serve as a clinical or professional record-keeping system for healthcare providers, daycares or other organizations.
3. What First Bites is
First Bites is a logging and organizing tool. You can record the foods your baby tries, each feeding, any reactions, and notes. The app organizes that record into views such as a food board, exposure counts, allergen “windows,” a nutrient and variety view, meal-plan ideas, milestones and a printable report. It also includes a library of general information about starting solids, allergens, serving ideas and choking safety, with links to the public sources it draws on.
First Bites is currently free. We may add, change or remove features over time.
4. Not medical advice
First Bites provides general information and record-keeping tools only. Nothing in it is medical, nutritional, dietary or allergy advice. It does not replace advice from your pediatrician, allergist, registered dietitian, or another qualified health professional who knows your child.
- Not a medical device. First Bites is not a medical device. It has not been evaluated, cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other regulator. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, mitigate or prevent any disease or condition, including food allergy.
- Labels are record-keeping, not assessments. First Bites produces outputs such as “watching,” “established,” “keep it going,” “lapsed” and “reaction” statuses, exposure counts, nutrient “good source” tags, weekly nutrient coverage, “fill the gaps” suggestions, meal plans, combo ideas, age-based serving suggestions and milestones. All of them come from simple, fixed rules applied to what was entered. They don’t take your child’s health history into account, and they can be wrong or incomplete. An allergen marked “established” does not mean your child can’t react to it. A food with no logged reaction is not proven safe for your child.
- Nutrient tags are qualitative. First Bites doesn’t measure portions or amounts. It can’t tell you whether your child is getting enough of any nutrient. Ask your pediatrician about iron, vitamin D and other supplements.
- No professional relationship. Using First Bites doesn’t create a doctor–patient relationship, or any other professional relationship, with us. We are not healthcare providers.
- Don’t delay care. Never ignore professional advice or put off seeking it because of something you read or saw in First Bites, or something you didn’t see there. If you’re worried about your child’s health, call your pediatrician.
- Guidance changes. The general information in First Bites reflects public guidance, such as that of the American Academy of Pediatrics, NIAID and the FDA, as we understood it when we wrote it. Recommendations change. Our summaries may be simplified, incomplete, out of date or wrong. Your pediatrician’s advice for your child always comes first.
5. Allergens, reactions & emergencies
- Before you introduce allergens, talk to your pediatrician. Also talk to an allergist if you have one. This is especially important if your baby has severe eczema, a known food allergy (such as egg), or a strong family history of allergies. These babies may need testing or a supervised first feeding, and their plan may differ from general guidance.
- The app’s tips, such as introducing one new allergen at a time, offering it at home early in the day, and the 2-hour watch reminder, are general practices. They are not a medical protocol for your child.
- The 2-hour watch is only a reminder on your screen. First Bites does not monitor your child, detect reactions, or alert anyone. Reminders or notifications may be delayed, may not arrive, or may not be shown.
- Logging a reaction in First Bites does not notify your doctor or anyone else.
- In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Signs of a serious reaction include trouble breathing or wheezing, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, repeated vomiting, widespread hives, or a baby who turns pale, blue or floppy. Use epinephrine if it has been prescribed. For milder symptoms, stop offering the food and call your pediatrician.
6. Choking, food safety & supervision
- Supervise every meal. Your baby should be seated upright, with an adult watching and within reach, the whole time.
- Serving, size and texture suggestions, including “how to serve” by age, are general ideas for typical babies. You decide what’s right for your child’s age, development, and any feeding or swallowing issues. If you’re unsure, ask your pediatrician or a feeding specialist.
- The choking, gagging and infant CPR content is a quick reference. It is not training, and it doesn’t replace a hands-on infant CPR and first-aid class. We strongly encourage every caregiver to take one.
- The food lists, “never give” lists and prep tips are not complete. Follow current food-safety guidance for your child. For example, no honey before 12 months, cook eggs, meat and seafood fully, and check for food recalls.
- You are solely responsible for what you feed your child, how it’s prepared, and for supervising your child.
7. What you log, and its accuracy
- Everything First Bites shows about your baby comes from what you, and any family members you share with, enter. We don’t check it. A missing entry, a wrong time, or an entry under the wrong baby or wrong food makes the board, allergen statuses, nutrients, plans and reports wrong too.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you log, and for reviewing reports and exports before you rely on them or share them.
- Reports and exports are your own records. This includes the pediatrician report, PDF prints and CSV exports. They copy your caregiver notes for your convenience. They are not medical records, and neither we nor any clinician has verified them.
- What you enter is yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and transmit it only as needed to run First Bites for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. That means keeping it on your device, syncing it across your devices if you sign in, and showing it to the family members you choose to share with.
- Only record information you have the right to record and share. Please don’t use notes to store other people’s sensitive information.
8. Accounts & family sharing
- Accounts are optional. First Bites works on your device without one. If you create one, it is a single traqqit login that also works with our other traqqit apps.
- Keep your password secure. Tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Your family invite code works like a key. The same goes for the invite link. Anyone who has it can join your family and see, add, edit and delete the babies and feedings in it. Share it only with people you trust. Share it only with people you are entitled to share your child’s information with, such as a co-parent, grandparent or caregiver.
- Family members can see who logged each entry, shown by email address.
- When anyone in the family changes or deletes an entry, the change syncs to everyone. We can’t settle disagreements between family members, and we can’t restore deleted entries.
- You can leave a family at any time. If the person who created a family deletes their account, the shared copy on our server is deleted. Other members keep the babies and feedings on their own devices, without that person’s email.
- You can delete your account at any time. In the app, go to 👤 Account → Leave family or delete account → Delete account (or ⚙️ Settings → Delete account & data), or use our delete-account page.
9. Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- break the law, or use First Bites to harm anyone, including a child;
- try to access accounts, families or data that aren’t yours, or probe, scan, overload or disrupt our servers;
- scrape, copy, resell or repackage First Bites or its content, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows;
- use bots or other automated means to create accounts or submit requests;
- upload malware, or anything unlawful, harassing or infringing;
- present First Bites content to others as medical advice or as your own professional work.
We may suspend or remove access, accounts or content that we reasonably believe break these Terms or put others at risk.
10. Availability, changes & data loss
- First Bites is provided free, “as is” and “as available.” We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time. If we plan to shut down account sync, we’ll try to give you reasonable notice (in the app or on this site) so you can export your data.
- Without an account, your data lives only in your browser’s storage on your device. It’s gone if site data is cleared (by you, your phone, your browser, a cleaner app or a system update), if storage is wiped, or if the device is lost. We can’t see that data and can’t recover it.
- With an account, sync keeps a copy on our server, but sync is not a guaranteed backup. Entries can be lost or overwritten, for example when several devices edit at the same time. A deleted entry can occasionally come back from another device’s copy.
- Export regularly. In the app, go to ⚙️ Settings → 📄 Doctor report & CSV export, then save a PDF or CSV copy.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for data that is lost, corrupted or unavailable.
11. Third-party links, content & sources
First Bites links to and summarizes information from third parties. These include the American Academy of Pediatrics (HealthyChildren.org), the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, USDA FoodData Central and the American Red Cross. None of them endorses First Bites or is responsible for it. We don’t control third-party websites and aren’t responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. We compiled the food catalog, nutrient tags and serving ideas from public sources and simplified them, so they may contain errors.
12. Intellectual property
First Bites belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. That includes its software, design, text, food catalog, artwork and the “First Bites” name. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use First Bites for your own family’s non-commercial use under these Terms. What you log stays yours (see section 7). If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FIRST BITES AND ALL CONTENT AND INFORMATION IN IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY. THIS INCLUDES ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. We don’t promise that First Bites or its content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your child. We don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that your data will be preserved. You use First Bites at your own risk. Decisions about your child’s feeding and care are yours, made with your child’s healthcare providers.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, arising out of or related to First Bites or these Terms.
- WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, ILLNESS, ALLERGIC REACTION, CHOKING OR OTHER HARM ARISING FROM FEEDING DECISIONS, or from reliance on any information, label, suggestion or record in First Bites. This does not apply to harm caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO FIRST BITES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR FIRST BITES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
These limits apply whatever the legal theory (contract, tort including negligence, strict liability or anything else), even if we were told the damage was possible. Some places don’t allow certain warranties or damages to be excluded or limited, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
15. Indemnification
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Data Hound Tech LLC and its owners from third-party claims, losses and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from any of the following:
- your misuse of First Bites;
- what you enter into it;
- your sharing of your family invite code or your child’s information;
- your violation of these Terms or the law.
16. Ending your use
You can stop using First Bites at any time, and you can delete your account and synced data as described on our delete-account page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue First Bites. Some sections keep applying after you stop using First Bites because of what they cover. These include the medical disclaimer (sections 4–7), the disclaimer of warranties, the limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you have a problem, please email us first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly, and we’ll try in good faith to resolve yours informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute that isn’t resolved informally will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may still bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court. If you live outside Arizona, the laws where you live may give you consumer rights that these Terms can’t take away.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above. For significant changes, we’ll let you know in the app, for example by asking you to review and agree again. If you keep using First Bites after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply to you.
19. General
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about First Bites.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don’t enforce a provision right away, we haven’t given it up.
- You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them if First Bites is sold or reorganized, and we’ll give notice where the law requires it.
- These Terms don’t give rights to anyone else.
- If you downloaded First Bites from Google Play, Google’s terms also apply to that download. Google is not a party to these Terms and isn’t responsible for First Bites or its content.
